Creating change for yourself or your community (or both!) requires tenacity and guts that we often attribute to others, and can burn us out in the long run.
In this playful, interactive workshop, Lou Shackleton of The You Can Hub will give you the tools and create the environment for you to connect with your courage without defaulting to “grinning and bearing it” through the tough spots.
In the session we will:
- Learn about the “Change Journey,” the seven stages that we all go through in order to bring an idea to life
- Explore the relationship between vulnerability and bravery in your own life, and define your own comfort zone
- Learn key tools to help you move through each stage with your mind and body intact
- Identify the key strengths that will help you through the obstacles ahead
About your facilitator:
Lou grew up being told she was “too smart for art.” She pursued a career in psychology and academic research before an autoimmune disorder stopped her in her tracks. Now she’s on a mission to combine her psychology and creativity – her smarts and her arts – to make change more fun for all of us. As Change-Maker in Chief at The You Can Hub, she’s responsible for experimenting with change in her own life and sharing what happens so you can learn from it, too. She’s putting all this together in the Field Guide to Change, a guide to navigating the changes in life: more on that here. When she’s not doing a 30 Day Challenge of her choice, she’s doing yoga, watching live bands, or practicing her doodles.
What people say:
“I found the Courage for Change workshop powerful and thought provoking; it fitted very well with our current programme and underpinned messages and teaching from our sessions. I plan to book more dates for this workshop as it had an empowering and positive effect on the entrepreneurs in the room, me included!” ~ Jackie Cooper FOIEE, Serious Impact Business Advisor, Allia and attendee of our Courage for Change workshop
“I am in the process of establishing a well-being and resilience enterprise. Courage for Change has helped me to understand the journey I have been on but didn’t have the words or enough information to identify the stages of change I was going through. I would recommend this course wholeheartedly as it definitely worked as a catalyst for me to move forward. It would be great to have Courage for Change available to others on their start up journey as it provides so many useful insights.” ~ Dawn Mclean, currently launching ‘The Way Of Flourishing,’ and Attendee of You Can Hub’s Courage for Change Workshop
“I think I learned more than I can put into words really. It feels like that kind of intangible knowledge that you don’t realise you have from an experience rather than book learning.” ~ Sarah Woodrow, Head of Product Management, Arcus Global and attendee of our workshop at CreativeConf Cambridge
“I recently attended an event where Lou presented her unique ‘Field Guide to Change’. I hadn’t come across such a relevant and necessary tool for change. Due to its simple graphics and metaphorical associations, it’s easy to connect with. I certainly connected with it, as did many people in the audience. It was clear that Lou is passionate about the subject as evidenced by her articulate delivery.” ~ Em Linford, Development Guide and Expedition Leader and attendee of the Field Guide to Change at Misfit Local
